Sustainable America is about to get started.

The idea behind this site, is to focus on what IS being done across America that is sustainable!  Giving examples for others to follow.  Sharing your information with others, so they too can be able to do it.  Together, on a grass roots basis, America CAN achieve independence.

Not just independance from big oil, and those who control it, but we could be self-suffient in:

• Food
• Housing
• Clothing
• Home heating
• Electricity
• and more….

There are people in the U.S. who are interested in renewable, sustainable projects.  Everything from using the solar energy to heat water in a hose for hot water, to hydrogen fuel cells.  Growing food from seeds that have been saved from the previous years garden.  Making alcohol to supply their energy needs.

I don’t know if you know:

• 50% of our food is grown in other countries.
• Farmers use to save their own seed for next years crops.  Today, a major expense is buying seeds for their next crop.  Hybrid seed “Owned and Patented” by companies.  We are losing many strains of seeds.
• Fuel is holding us hostage.  Those who “Own” and control the fuel, control us.  Not good.  We could and should be making our own.
• If farmers and homeowners were to “grow their fuel” and become energy producers, it would cause a MASSIVE explosion to the LOCAL economies of this country.  The amount of new jobs produced locally, would be huge!  The money used to buy the energy from these local energy producers would STAY LOCAL too.
• This list could be a lot bigger.  We will be adding to it as time goes on.

Now I know what some are saying, especially those who are paid to speak out against all this ‘nonsense’ by big oil.  You can’t blame big oil.  They have billions and billions of dollars invested in “Oil” and “They” don’t want to see renewable, sustainable fuel and energy projects get in their way.  No matter how good it is of everybody else!  Not to mention the environment.

Anyway, back to what some of you might be thinking or would say:

• Don’t take away FOOD to make fuel!!!  There are too many people starving in this world.
• Use it to feed animals instead.
• Turning food into fuel doesn’t decrease the amount of green house gases.  The tractors and trucks hauling it puts it right back.

I say that’s propaganda.  Put out by big oil, through their bought and paid for mouth pieces!  Have YOU studied it for YOURSELVES, or at the very least really LISTENED to someone who has?
